As the weather gets warmer you know that summer is just around the corner. Great right? But what can you do to protect your face from sun damage? Here are the three best ways to prevent wrinkles and fine lines as the temperature goes up.
- First, make sure you wash your face daily and are exfoliating twice a week. A daily face wash will cleanse the pores from sweat and dirt that builds overnight. For that, choosing your face wash is a must. Over the cold season, our skin becomes damaged, dry, and flaky To be revitalized and “put our best face forward” we must use a loofah and a quality face scrub to remove the excess dead skin. This will also help unclog pores and diminish black heads. I recommend exfoliating in the morning. Your skin cells will refurbish overnight so the best time to scrub off any new dead skin is in the morning.
- Use SPF if you want to prevent fine lines, wrinkles, sun damage, and most importantly skin cancer. During the summer I recommend applying 30 SPF on your face (but on your body I recommend spf 50) before you leave in the morning and then also at lunch. Of course, if you are spending most of your days outside reapply every hour or two. Another great way to apply SPF every day is to wear foundation that has SPF built in. It covers multiple steps of your morning routine and once, I find that it is a little less greasy. Make sure the foundation you buy has at least SPF 20-30 in it; some foundations only have SPF 10 or 15. That is better than nothing, but it will not prevent wrinkles as effectively as a higher SPF. You know how hot it can be during summer.
- The last step to having a gorgeous face during the summer is hydrating and moisturizing. Many people forget how much easier it is to get dehydrated during the summer. Especially if you are sitting by a pool drinking cocktails. The best way to prevent this, and keep your face looking young and healthy is by drinking plenty of water. The other way to keep your skin healthy is by applying a quality moisturizer before bed. Even with SPF your skin will dry out under the sun’s powerful UV rays. If this is a problem you face, use a moisturizer for normal to dry skin types. Also, to relieve any pain from sun burn (if you forget to reapply your sun screen) use Aloe. Aloe can be found at a variety of drugstores and provides relief to sun burn. It also helps the skin repair faster.
If you follow these steps, you will be all ready to face the sun and the wonderful summer weather. This will allow you to maintain a summer glow without the risks of skin cancer and other damaging skin problems. The best part is these three steps are easy to fit into your everyday routine!
And in this summer, after preparing your skin, it would be like giving the sun a middle finger! ;D (lol sorry about that!)
