Hey gorgeous people! How are you guys doing? I hope you are doing fine. First and foremost, let's all pray for the victims in Boston Marathon bombing. :( It was such an unfortunate event and I hope the people who are affected will be alright. It's sad that there are people with 'evil' minds that can do such thing. Let's also pray for those "kind" of people that they may be enlightened and that their conscience will not let them sleep at night until they surrender themselves and face the punishment that they deserve. Let's just all hope that justice will prevail and that everyone will have a peace of mind.
Anyway, let's get into business! :) In this post, Imma share with you my thoughts about subscription/sampling services. :)
First of, what are monthly subscription services/boxes? Anyone? ;D Alright, monthly subscription boxes has the same concept with magazine subscription but instead of a magazine, you will receive a box full of goodies. Generally a "subscriber" or a person pays a small monthly fee for a box of product samples (usually 5-10 samples per box). The cost of a subscription box is equivalent to the monthly fee but in MOST cases, they are more than what you paid for. The whole point of this is for us to discover products/brands that we haven't tried before. I really think this is a great idea especially to new brands that want to connect with their target consumers. I got to thinking about this if I would try or not but at the end, the beauty junkie (and the hoarder) in me kicks in! And how fun would it be to get a surprise or two every month right? ;) On the other hand, there are also sampling sites. Unlike subscription boxes where you can get a monthly surprise, this one -there's no surprise at all. Why? Because you can choose the sample products that you like with a limit of 3. You don't have to pay a monthly fee but you need to pay a small amount for the shipping fee every time you checkout.
The idea of monthly subscription services started in US (must be cool to know who's the pioneer!:D). Then not a year after, UK subscription boxes are also available. And now, we also have it here in Philippines! yey! And the sampling services? Well I guess it was introduced to people right after subscription boxes got popular. ;)

Saladbox is the first subscription box available here in Philippines but not the "only" subscription box anymore as two have also arrived in the beauty subscription scene (we'll talk more on that later). After reading reviews about them, I finally decided to subscribe on their box. I subscribed for the month of March and so I will tell you my "honest" review about it on a separate post.
